East Coast Martial Arts members remember Steve HindmanSteven D. Hindman, well-known owner of East Coast Martial Arts in Jackson Township, passed away on Jan. 31. He founded the gym in 1986 in a garage in downtown Canton.

He has practiced martial arts for 64 years and in that time he captained the UK’s first Karate team in 1963 and then spent 21 years in Japan, both studying various martial arts and working for the governing body for Karate.

Karate Sensei to fight 30 challengers for St Luke’s HospiceA KARATE Sensei has vowed to take on thirty fighters in aid of St Luke’s Hospice after they nursed his mum in her final hours. Sensei Ted Clare, 34, from Winsford, first began learning Karate when he was five years old, earning his black belt by the age of 12 before moving to Shaolin Kempo Karate in his later years.
